| “View
of the Mara River”
In March 2007 I was able to go to Africa for the first
time. The trip began in Uganda, continued in Kenya and ended in Zanzibar,
and I was able to paint en plein air a little bit in each country. For
this painting I sat on a platform that overlooked the Mara River in the
Masai Mara. While I painted, colorful birds flew by, baboons ran behind
me, hippos lolled about in the river below, and cowbells clanged in the
distance as the Masai herders passed. View of the Mara River, 10 by 8",
oil on linen panel, 2007.
