View of the Mara River
In March 2007 I was able to go to Africa for the first time. The trip began in Uganda, continued in Kenya and ended in Zanzibar, and I was able to paint en plein air a little bit in each country. For this painting I sat on a platform that overlooked the Mara River in the Masai Mara. While I painted, colorful birds flew by, baboons ran behind me, hippos lolled about in the river below, and cowbells clanged in the distance as the Masai herders passed.
